How do you protect a video game — copyright or trademarks?
Both, but with different scope. Source code and graphics are protected by copyright automatically. The game title, studio logo and store icons, however, are worth registering as trademarks — that is the only effective way to block counterfeits on the App Store and Google Play.
Can a company in Wrocław handle an EUIPO matter remotely?
Yes, and most European companies do exactly that. EUIPO is a fully digital office: filings, correspondence and decisions all go through the online portal. The firm does not need to be in the same city as the client, because no stage of the procedure requires physical presence.
